1940's North Norfolk Poppyline Railway Weekend 15-16 September 2012

1940's weekend
This year the Muckleburgh Military Collection is joining forces with the North Norfolk Poppyline to expand
the exciting 1940's weekend experience on Saturday & Sunday 15-16 September 2012.

Free Parking is available at The Muckleburgh Military Collection at Weybourne
with a FREE Park and Ride transfer to Holt Station.

The Park and Ride will run from Muckleburgh at 9.30 am to Holt Station and then every 20 minutes or so throughout the day from Holt Station to Muckleburgh.

The last pick up from Holt Station will be at 6.00 pm and the gates will be locked at Muckleburgh at 6.30 pm / when the last car leaves.

There will be other coaches providing transport between the three stations. Station Passes cost £2.00 per station - which can be redeemed in the cost of a travel ticket if purchased at the various stations. Full details of costs and time tables can be seen on the NNRailway/Poppyline website.

Muckleburgh visitors can also use the free Park & Ride bus but of course will have to purchase Station or Travel tickets at Holt.

Come and view the vast collection of working tanks and vehicles, take a break
at our new cafe/restauarant and soak up the atmosphere before taking
a train journey on the North Norfolk Poppyline.

Come and enjoy the 1940's weekend on the North Norfolk Railway,
Over the years this event has attracted more and more visitors and more and more exhibitors.
It is widely felt to be one of the best events of its type in the country.

People who attended last year were booking accommodation before they left as they enjoyed it so much!
Come in uniform or 194'0s civilian dress to add to the atmosphere. Don't forget your gas mask and ration books!

Hear
The singing of American Tan, air raids, the Sheringham Salvation Army Band, Nostalgia Unlimited and gramophone music.

Taste
Wartime rations, tea, together with spam sandwiches, from the NAAFI.

See
Jitterbug dancers, re-enactment groups, a collection of 1940's vehicles and veteran and vintage bicycles.

Feel
The excitement, fear, hope and bravery of the blitz.

Smell
The golden age of steam. All in all, experience a very British weekend!

Holt is located on the A148. It is a quaint old style village, which has undergone sympathetic moderisation in recent years. There are several shopping areas, with modern supermarkets on the outskirts of town, there is no free parking in the town.
